Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Captio ("the App", "we", "our") processes data when you use the App. Captio is developed by an independent individual developer based in Sweden ("the Developer"). This policy applies to all users worldwide.

Captio provides subtitle generation and translation features for videos stored on your device. The App does not collect personal information, does not create user accounts, and does not store any user content on external servers.

By using Captio, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Captio does not collect or store:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Location data
  • Personal identifiers
  • User content on developer-controlled servers

The App does not maintain a backend infrastructure storing any user data.

2. Information the App Processes

Captio processes limited data solely to provide functionality.

2.1. Videos and Audio (Stored on Device Only)

  • All videos you use remain on your device only.
  • Audio extracted from videos is stored temporarily on your device during processing.
  • Deleting the App removes all such data automatically.
  • We never upload videos or audio to our own servers.

3. Third-Party Services

Captio uses trusted third-party services exclusively for real-time processing. These services process only what is required and, based on their documentation, do not retain your content afterward.

3.1. ElevenLabs API (Audio Processing)

  • Only extracted audio is sent to ElevenLabs for processing.
  • ElevenLabs states that uploaded audio is not stored after processing.
  • No video content is ever sent.

3.2. Google Cloud Translation API (Text Translation)

  • The App sends subtitle text to Google Translate.
  • Google states that data sent to Cloud Translation is not logged or stored beyond processing.
  • No audio/video content is transmitted to Google.

4. Analytics and Crash Reporting

Captio may use:

  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • Firebase Analytics
  • Apple App Analytics

These services may collect:

  • Device model
  • OS version
  • Crash logs
  • App performance metrics

All analytics data is anonymous and not linked to any personal identity.

5. Subscriptions & Payments

  • All payments are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store.
  • Apple manages billing, refunds, and purchase history.
  • Captio uses RevenueCat for entitlement management; no personal identifiers are shared with RevenueCat.
  • The Developer does not process or store any financial data.

6. Children's Privacy

  • The App is suitable for users of all ages.
  • Captio does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in compliance with COPPA and GDPR-K.
  • Since no personal data is collected, children may safely use the App.

7. GDPR (EU/EEA Users)

  • Under the GDPR, users have rights including access, deletion, and portability.
  • Since Captio stores no personal data, these rights are fulfilled by uninstalling the App.
  • Users may contact us with any concerns regarding GDPR compliance.

8. Data Retention

Captio retains no user data on external servers. All content remains on the device unless deleted by the user.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
